We will monitor road and weather conditions before any decisions are made for Friday, Feb. 4th. Stay safe, stay warm! #MohawkNation

Up to seven students from around the state of Arkansas will be awarded the License2Howl scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable. The L2H application process runs from Oct 1, 2021, until Feb. 1, 2022. -- L2H scholarships are made possible because of Arkansans who purchased the A-State license plate and are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus in Fall 2021. There will be two opportunities for the community to hear about the four school calendar options for the 2022-2023 school year. The Arkansas Department of Education is giving schools the opportunity to choose from one of four calendars to operate their district under. We would like to present those four options to you and get your feedback to help us make a decision that would best benefit our students and community. The two dates are:
Tuesday, February 1, 2022--6:30pm in the HS Cafeteria
Monday, February 7, 2022--6:30pm in the ES Cafeteria
The Piggott School District WILL BE OPEN for on-site instruction on Friday, January 21, 2022. Buses will run at normal times.
While city streets are in pretty good shape, Hwy 62 from Pollard to St. Francis has several areas of black ice that would be unsafe for our students, staff, parents, and buses to travel during the morning commute. Along with the 200+ staff and students that have been out sick, the Piggott School District WILL BE CLOSED for on-site instructions today. We will use AMI day #6. We will monitor road conditions and make decisions for other school events and about school for Friday later today.
Road conditions are spotty around the Piggott area. Hwy 62 from Piggott to St. Francis has the most accumulation and is mostly sleet. No decision about school closure will be made until about 5:45am in the morning.
Mohawk Basketball: The Junior High Boys and Girls will travel to Manila tonight to take on the Manila Lions in 3A-3 Basketball Action. The junior girls will play at 4:30pm with the boys to immediately follow. Go Mohawks!
The Piggott School District is planning on having school on Wednesday, January 19 pending on any inclement weather issues that occur tonight or any other surge in Covid cases within our staff. Thank you for your cooperation during these trying times.
Due to the Covid positive cases in our staff and lack of proper supervision and the ability to provide needed services for our students and staff, the Piggott School District will use AMI day #5 on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Since we are closing for Covid related issues all extra curricular events for Monday, January 17 and Tuesday, January 18 will be rescheduled on other dates. We will post as soon as we have them rescheduled.
There will be NO Lady Mohawk games tonight or Mohawk Basketball games tomorrow night.
Thank you for understanding our situation.
Due to the increasing numbers of positive cases and quarantines, the Piggott School District will use AMI days 3 and 4 on Thursday(01/13) and Friday(01/14) to slow the spread of this variant. Please monitor your children for signs and symptoms. There will be NO basketball games/practices Thursday or Friday. Those games may be rescheduled later. We appreciate your support during this time.

After driving several roadways in and around the Piggott School District, we have decided to use day #2 of our AMI days. While main roads are pretty clear, many of our side and gravel roads still have snow and ice that will re-freeze tonight causing travel to be dangerous. School WILL BE CLOSED, Friday, January 7. Students should continue to work through AMI packets and work in Google Classroom for their instruction for Friday, January 7, 2022.
Girls Basketball games that were scheduled for Thursday January 6, 2022 have been cancelled for tonight due to winter weather. We are working on rescheduling and playing four games tomorrow night 01/07/2022 with Junior Boys and Girls and Senior Boys and Girls v. Manila. We will post that decision by noon 01/07/2022.
