Announcements 4-14-22

There will be an Awards Assembly TODAY, Thursday, April 14 at 8:30 in the new gym for last year's ACTAspire scores.  The reward field day will be from 9-2  for those students who were Exceeding, Ready, or close in Reading on the tests.  The field day has been changed to taking place in the three gymnasiums on the high school campus.  There will concessions available so students should be bring money for concessions.  Games and activities are planned for 3 groups.

Please excuse Sr high cheerleaders: Nyla Dees, Karter Webb, Haley Hanners, Taylor Blackwell, Gracelynn Holmes, Jeanni Leggett, Trinity Allen, Breanna Harmon, Kashlen Brenna all day on Thursday, April 14 to help with concession for the field day.

**Students: Splat Guns (shoots orbeez) are not allowed on campus (including parking lots). If a student is caught in possession of a Splat Gun, discipline action will be taken by PHS Administrators as well as the School Resource Officer. 

There will be a Blood Drive next Monday, April 18 in the library.  Students must be at least 16 with 16-17 year olds having parent signature. See Mrs. Amber for details.

**Seniors:  The Clay County Farm Bureau Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  You must be a child or grandchild of a Clay County Farm Bureau member, 2.5 GPA, and preferably seeking a degree in agriculture or the medical field - but this is not a requirement.  Deadline is Friday, April 15, 2022

**Sophomores/Juniors:  If you are interested in taking the following concurrent classes next year, it is time to register.  See Mrs. Amber for paperwork.  You must have ACT or ACT Aspire cut scores to qualify.  They will start accepting applications on April 18  and the deadline is May 27.  These classes come on a first come first serve basis with our school and several other schools.  If you are interested, you need to see Mrs. Amber ASAP.   Comp I/II, Experiencing Art, Public  Speaking, US History I/II, World History I/II, Beginning Spanish I/II, Personal Health & Wellness (new offering)

***Registration Deadline for June 11 ACT Test that is given here at PHS is Friday, May 6.

*Hitt's Chapel is sponsoring a logo design contest for their kid's chapel. Anyone interested in winning $50 or $100, needs to see Mrs. Tate for the details. Designs are due April 15th.

** The 2022 Mohawk Pageant will take place Saturday, April 30th, in the PHS Middle Gym. Entry forms may be found in the PES office and the PHS office. Entry forms and fees are due Friday, April 22nd, and may be turned in to the PES and PHS offices. 

***Scholarship for this year's Juniors (Class of 2023) --Current high school juniors graduating in 2023 are eligible to apply for and win up to $18,000 in scholarship funding towards higher education. Arkansas Rice's "Rice Reps" is a five month program to help educate students about the rice industry while equipping them to act as advocates in their communities and on social media. ---Once accepted into the program, Reps actively participate in activities from May through September designed to teach students about rice farming and the importance of the Arkansas rice industry at home and abroad.  They are also asked to attend four different exclusive, on-site experiences during the program to better understand the reach of rice in Arkansas. ---The goal of the Rice Reps program is to encourage interest in rice promotion and to publicize the importance of the Arkansas rice industry to the state's economy. The program seeks to educate both male and female students across the state of Arkansas with the tools and knowledge to advocate for the Arkansas rice industry. Participants will also receive an inside look on the production of rice during the growing season. **The Gaylon Lawrence Memorial Scholarship application is now available on the PHS website. This is a 4-year renewable scholarship of $1000 per semester given to a student who exhibits excellence in academics, leadership, and character. It is renewable with a G.P.A. requirement of 2.5 for freshman year and 3.0 thereafter up to $8000 total. A 300 word essay is required. Deadline for application is April 29, 2022. ** Textbook Brokers in Conway, AR is sponsoring a Book Scholarship to  students attending UCA, CBC or UACCM in Fall 2022.  They have provided a link for students to fill out their information for a chance to win a Textbook Scholarship for Fall 2022. Each scholarship will cover the full cost of books for the Fall 2022 semester. There will be  2 winners chosen  at UCA and UACCM then one winner for CBC. They will announce the winners on Facebook and Instagram, May 16th 2022. Students can also visit our website www.conwaybooks.com and fill out the scholarship form under our "info" tab. One entry person.

Seniors:  Clay County Cattleman's Association's scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This is for students pursuing a degree in Animal  Science and/or agriculture.  Deadline is May 1st.
